The Edith Kanakaʻole Foundation is thrilled to announce our hula book series, Hiʻiaka ke Kāula: Hula for Practitioners in 2025 & Beyond, the result of years of research and discussion about the vital elements of hula such as Hiʻiaka, Laka, Kapō, Pele, Kāne, Lono, Kanaloa, Haʻiwahine, and so on under the direction of Pualani Kanahele Kanakaʻole and Nālani Kanakaʻole.


Eia Au E Laka, Iho Mai E Kapō: Who is Laka? Who is Kapō? A Collection of Essays by Kumu Hula for Hula People in 2025 & Beyond is the launch publication in this series and will be available at the 2025 Merrie Monarch Festival. This is the first book in a series of 10 hula books.
